St Werburghs City Farm, a green oasis in the heart of the city, is designed to connect people to food, the local community, and the environment, and care and oversee 4 different sites within the area. These include the farm site, a Community Garden, a 2.5 acre wildlife woodland, and 13 acres of community allotments, which really gives the area a country feel.
The City Farm is a small holding that enables people growing up in city centres to learn about farm animals, and why they keep them. Animals include a small flock of Jacob sheep (and lambs in Spring), some friendly, but mischievous goats, 2 Gloucester Old Spot sows (and often piglets!), a flock of ducks, a few rabbits, and a clutch of chickens. Spring time sees new lambs on the farm and if you time your visit right, you may be able to see a new born lamb take its first steps, or help bottle feed baby goats! It’s ideal for animal lovers of all ages.
