Our building was constructed in the early 90s, opening in 1993 as an aquarium operated by Merlin Entertainments.
The centre was purchased in 2000 by the Stockvale Group, owners and operators of the nearby Adventure Island fun park, who were expanding their empire just as Merlin were selling.
The centre was completely renovated with the addition of lots of new exhibits, throwing out the ideas of home aquariums and installing floor to ceiling displays, with head holes allowing guests to get closer to the action than ever before. Stockvale also opened the Little Tikes Play Area in the centre, adding an extra dimension to the days out thousands of families were enjoying every year.
In winter 2009 the center closed for another full refurbishment, this time to bring it firmly into the new decade with loads of new interactive elements, and we said goodbye to the play area in order to open our new mezzanine floor, creating unmatchable birthday party experiences for children. The ?1million overhaul made the centre more accessible, more entertaining and more fun than ever before!
