It’s home to 1200 animals including an incredible 200 tortoises! Other animals calling it home include Crocodiles, Snakes, Lizards, Pandas, Horses and even Leopards to name a few. The zoo opened its doors in 1794 and has been welcoming visitors ever since. They have ‘meet the keepers’ events which you should keep an eye out for as they are designed to help raise awareness. The zoo is also part of a breeding program for endangered species. Find your way to the Menagerie buildings that have been standing since the 19th century and include The Bear Pit from 1805, and the Reptile House from 1870!
