Did you know that the London Eye was once the world’s tallest observation wheel! It has 32 sealed air-conditioned capsules that can each hold up to 25 people, so up to 800 people per rotation and offers incredible views of the city!
A full rotation on the wheel takes around 30 minutes and you can normally see landmarks such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s, The Tate Museum, Tower Bridge, and The Shard, amongst others!
The London Eye lights up at night so looks beautiful against the evening sky and changes colour. For special events they display special colours!

- Did you know the Lastminute.com London Eye is one of the UK’s most popular tourist attractions and receives around 3 millions visitors per year. That’s an average of over 8000 per day!
- Although there are 32 pods, they are numbered 1-33 as they didn’t use the number ’13’ because of it’s association with being unlucky! The 13th is my birthday – what does that say about me!
- Each pod can take up to 25 people, so that means each rotation of the wheel can take up to 800 people!
- The Lastiminute.com London Eye is 443 feet high or 135 meters and is amongst the largest Ferris wheel’s in the world.

How To Get To The Lastminute.com London Eye
Via Tube/Underground: Waterloo is the nearest station and about a 5-minute walk. However Embankment, Charing Cross and Westminster Stations are all within a 10-15 minute walking distance.
Via Main Line Train: Waterloo and Charing Cross is the nearest mainline train stations.
Via Bus: Buses 1, 12, 59, 68, 76, 77, 139, 148, 159, 168, 176, 188, 211, 243, 77, 381, 507 and 521 all stop near the London Eye.
Via Hop-on Hop-off Open Top Tourist Bus: The Red Route takes you to the London Eye
Via Boat and River Cruise: London Eye Pier is the stop and you can travel there via boat from the O2, Bankside, Embankment, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Tower, Canary Wharf, Hilton Docklands, Masthouse Terrace, Greenwich, Royal Arsenal Woolwich, St Katherine’s or Westminster Piers.
