We have a fascinating and eclectic collection arranged over eight rooms; there is something here for everyone. We are full of the curious and the wonderful!
Highlights of the collection include drawers of insects and butterflies from Britain and around the world. We have African, Asian and South American exhibits too. Closer to home find out about Ilfracombe?s seafaring past in the Maritime room, and the history of our town in the Ilfracombe gallery
Families and children can enjoy following a quiz around the museum, and there are objects for little ones to handle. There is a ship-to-shore radio station where you can have a go at tapping out Morse code. Many younger visitors are fascinated by the famous two-headed kitten and huge African python, some are not so sure about the cupboard of pickled bats!
Adults and children can have a go at brass rubbing for a small extra charge and we have a museum shop.
Researchers can access our extensive archives on purchasing a researcher?s ticket and for those who want to have free entry all year we have a Friends subscription scheme or an annual entry ticket is available ? email or phone for details
Ilfracombe museum is an entirely self-supported charity and your entrance fee directly supports our work.
