On Boxing Day in 1985, 3.5 acres of overgrown allotments were officially signed over to The Friends of Leicester City Farm. The group went on to develop what is?now Leicester?s Gorse Hill City Farm. Situated on the outskirts of Leicester City Centre, Gorse Hill City Farm now covers a 20 acre site, is a registered charity (registered Charity No. 1000575), a working farm and a community project dedicated to the welfare of our animals and to providing recreation and education to all.
In November 2011 Gorse Hill City Farm completed the process of becoming a ?Rare Breed Survival Trust Approved Farm Park? ? making us one of only 3 in the Midlands. We are currently home to several native and rare breeds of sheep, cattle, pigs, goats and ponies. We also have donkeys, poultry and a range of smaller animals for you to meet.
