The Dyfed Shires family were honoured to hold a Royal visit on 3rd July 2018.
It was planned for HRH Camilla to visit the Shire horses for around an hour, but a last minute surprise stop from HRH Prince Charles made the day slightly overwhelming. The couple arrived via helicopter, landing in one of our crop fields, followed by a short walk to meet several of our Shires, including a premature week old shire foal.
The Prince of Wales had to leave for another engagement and the day continued. HRH Camilla met with some of our guests before being introduced to the family who have maintained the Shire Horses over the last 30 or so years. After which, she unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit and the naming of our Shire foal ?Dyfed Merlin?
HRH then enjoyed a brief talk of the family history with the horses before enjoying a private horse and cart ride with our Shire ?Ed?. You can read about the day from his point of view in ?Ed?s Blog?
