WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
What is it about a brogue? The shoe that just begs to be polished, fitted with a shoe tree and placed in a duster bag. They have a look of permanence?and, let?s face it, of class. You can tell a man by the shoes he wears. But what if you could make them yourself? Yes pick up the nippers, weld the pliers and get to grips with a last. You could never look at shoes in the same way again. This day course teaches you to understand the pleasure of working with leather, and the elements of hand lasting. Bespoke – by you.
WHAT WILL I BE LEARNING?
Shaping the insole, puffing the toe, stiffening the heel, and hammering the uppers. This is craftsmanship. You will be working with four specialist shoemaking tools, and it will take you a day to create these brogues. At the end your shoes?will be sent off to Carreducker?s specialist cobbler to have a leather sole and heel attached. They will then be lovingly packed and delivered back to you, so you?re ready to dance the light fantastic – or maybe you could place them reverently in a box frame and just look at them?.Shoes just got a little bit shinier.
THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS
?You’ll need to book the dates of the course 4 weeks before the start of the course. On booking the date,?you’ll choose your closest UK shoe size, one of the five different shoe styles, a leather colour and the eyelet, heel, and toe details.
