Greenslate Community Farm was established by?Billinge and Orrell Transition Group?in 2012.
Formerly a disused council-run education farm, the aim of the project is to utilise the 30 acre site as a community resource, providing volunteering, training, education and therapeutic activities, as well as providing naturally grown food to the local community.
We operate a day care service, offer private allotments, and provide a hub for ideas sharing and development of community enterprises.
The farm is run as a community benefit society by a board of directors elected annually by the membership, and is supported by a dedicated and growing team of volunteers.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 16 and entitles the member to vote on decisions relating to the governance of the farm. Members of the society may purchase any number of shares, but all members have equal voting rights.
