Shoreham Skatepark

The Shoreham Skatepark Committee (SSC) was formed in 2006 in order to raise funds and initiate the build of a local skatepark.
The committee was elected from a large group of skaters ? varying in age from under 10 to over 50 years old ? who met at Adur District Council?s (ADC) offices after the council called a meeting to initiate the process of getting a local skatepark built.

Since it?s inauguration SSC has raised funds from the Big Lottery, Viridor, and Adur District Council to pay for the construction of the skatepark.

Ham Recreation ground, close to Shoreham town centre and its local amenities, was chosen for the skatepark site and planning permission was gained from the council.

Numerous obstacles, legal and financial held up the start of the build. Then finally in summer 2009 we had the green light for a autumn build and summer opening in 2010.

The entire project has been a partnership between SSC and ADC with a shared vision for building the best skatepark in the area.

The original design was developed by Canadian skatepark specialists Spectrum in consultation with local street and bowl skaters.

The park has been constructed by Blakedown Landscapes under the supervision of Worthing Borough Council?s engineers.
