Branston Water Park is a premier wildlife site in East Staffordshire. Located just outside Burton off the A38. Branston Water Park was originally an open cast gravel pit and is now home to many species of plants and animals, both common and nationally rare. The reed bed is particularly important to wildlife as it is one of the largest in Staffordshire.
The site is a Local Natural Reserve and has also received the prestigious Green Flag award again this year and has successfully held the award since 2005 in recognition of the quality, cleanliness, safety and wildlife value of the site.
In recent years the site has been improved with better signage, a small visitors centre and ample parking. There is a level path running around the entire site giving excellent disabled access, a children?s play area, toilets and information on the types of birds and habitats that are found at Branston Water Park.
Numerous groups use Branston Water Park for activities and there is always something going on. The unmanned visitor centre is open all week during summer months and at weekends only in winter. The information boards located at the side of the visitors centre and canalside are updated regularly.
As well as a cafe at Branston Water Park there are ample picnic areas with tables around the lake.
There is a small play area for children up to 8 years of age.
