Daisy May’s Farm in Elsenham attracted several hundred visitors to its annual fun day and pet show despite a road closure which has hampered the popular working farm.
Owner Rachel Berry said around 350 people attended Sunday’s event which was vital in raising money for food and bedding for the animals in its care.
“It was a good day and a lot busier than we expected,” said Rachel. “We took ?1,600, but out of that we have costs so I’m not sure yet the total amount we raised, but we were really happy that people came and seemed to have a lovely time.
“We did hear people complaining about the road closure, but there is nothing we can do about that and we would have been even busier if we had better access.”
Hall Road is closed for six months while bridge repair work is carried out nearby. Daisy May’s has been struggling with a drop in visitor numbers ever since the road was shut in April, but has been urging people to park in Elsenham and walk down as the farm is still open for business.
