Aldridge Sailing Club was formed in the summer of 1967 by a group of people building sailing dinghies at Aldridge Road School, Great Barr. They had nowhere to sail and approached Aldridge District Council to seek permission to use The Swag at Stubbers Green, Aldridge. After several meetings, permission was granted although there was a stipulation that no buildings could be erected. Eventually permission was granted and the clubhouse was built and finally completed in 1973. The club could now offer showers, changing rooms and toilet facilities. More importantly the clubroom and bar provided a place for social gatherings and events. The OD viewing / control room was added some years later. Training has taken place every year since 1976 and we have been an RYA recognised centre for many years. In that time over 500 people have been taught the skill of sailing with many continuning with the sport.
