Residents were able to vote on line and at an exhibition in the town earlier this month at which the three shortlisted artists each displayed their initial ideas. Boyesen?s colourful design using patchwork glass and acrylic panels to capture the history of the town, received 48% of the votes cast, well ahead of the next candidate.
On hearing the news of his appointment, Mr Boyesen commented: ?What I look forward to most is working with the community, and going on a journey with the creation of the clocktower to see where that might take us. The end result should be a new and treasured landmark in the town that many generations will grow up with.?
Born in Sussex, the 54 year old has been an artist, sculptor and designer working on heritage projects for the last 30 years. As part of the commission he will be working with the community to finalise details of the design. In July, August and September there will be three special ?Road Show? events across Keynsham, where members of the public can meet the artist and bring in photos, images and stories about Keynsham.
