Lisse is home to the Keukenhof Tulip Festival. The incredible annual flower festival that happens each year between March – May.
Each year the designers at Keukenhof (know as the Garden of Europe) put together a living catalogue for the flower bulb company owners. The show is also open to the public and each year more than 1,000,000 people visit Keukenhof to witness the beauty that the designers create.
The designers start planting the bulbs in October and they are arranged by colour, size and height and into the amazing designs.

Keukenhof was originally set up in 1949 by a group of local businessman so they could show off their tulips as a living catalogue and the buyers that came to visit could then see the products in person and helped them to increase their orders. The group also decided to open the show to the public and an incredible 200,000 people attended in the first year alone. Since then it has grown to over 1,000,000 visitors annually and there are around 100 flower companies that show their product ranges there.
